The Melbourne Institute of Governance and Technology is a policy lab founded in 2026. The Institute focuses on the role of technology in society, including 1) its productive capacity to increase labor productivity and the standard of living; and 2) the governance (ethical and sustainable use) and accountability measures (data privacy and human oversight) which must accompany it.

Aiden Gonzalez owns and operates a software company. Previously, he founded and sold an education technology startup. During his 2026 run for US Congress, it became clear to him that a policy lab focused on the positive and negative implications of emergent technology in society was lacking from political and government discourse. In filling this critical gap through the Melbourne Institute, he aims to drive conversations in state and federal government about leveraging the positive benefits of emergent technology while implementing safeguards for data privacy and human and workers' rights.
